Great Card From A Friend :)

My sweet friend Heather sent this card to me and I just love it so so so much :) It made me so nostalgic to see it. Remember mix tapes? I do! God, I used to make SO many mix tapes. It was the ULTIMATE gift to give and get to friends and lovers back in the day. To pick the perfect songs for that perfect person. Or to make a themed tape. I remember my very favorite mix tape was one that I made to write poetry too :p Of course it was very angsty...I was 16 and it had lots of Tori Amos and The Cure and My Bloody Valentine and Led Zeppelin on it. I loved that tape. I lost all of my mixed tapes in Hurricane Katrina and it made me so sad :( Not that I even have anything to play them on anymore but still...And then there were the tapes of songs recorded off of the radio...remember making those? When you sat by the radio just WAITING for the channel to play the songs you wanted and hitting record in time to get the song and then stopping it just in time so that it was perfect? :p As Heather says in her card, this new generation doesn't even know what a tape is :/ Sad, lol. Heather says she wonders how long it will be before CDs are extinct...Honestly, I'm not all that bothered about CDs going away, though I will miss the fact that I can't make mix CDs for people when that happens. I still like making mixes for friends. It's one of my favorite things to do! But these days, my favorite way to listen to music is either on vinyl or MP3s. Thanks Heather for the awesome postcard :)

Awesome Card From Great Britain!

This card comes from Alan in Great Britain and I have to say that I fell in love with it immediately :p Not just because it's creepy as hell and therefore right up my alley, but because it's homemade. This is Alan's partner pretending to be a serial killer or a stalker as part of a scavenger hunt they did for Flickr, lol. I LOVE it! And then the card just gets better! He's a book lover too and recently finished reading Barbara Kingsolver's Flight Behavior which I absolutely ADORED! He says "not bad"...my thoughts on the book are a bit more passionate than that, but I'm glad to find another person who's read the book and enjoyed it :) Oh, and I love the Jane Austen stamp too despite the fact that I'm not an Austen fan...*ducks tomatoes*

Incredibly Awesome Card From Ukraine

I am in LOVE with this card!!!!! It's some sort of awesome steampunk fairy tale mashup of "there was an old lady who lived in a shoe." It comes from Irinka who lives in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine with her husband and a cat :) She couldn't have picked a more perfect card for me! And to top it off, check out all of these incredibly awesome stamps that she included! I'm in LOVE with them :D Such happy mail!

Seattle Postcard From New York!

Here's a fun one! This one came today from Yishu who lives in New York City, but she got it when she was visiting Seattle which she says is one of her favorite cities in the US! She loves to travel and hopes to visit every state in the US...I'd love to do the same! But for now, I'm happy to get to know them all through the wonders of postcrossing :)

Greetings From Shanghai!

I got this absolutely adorable card in the mail today from Ashley in Shaghai! It put such a huge smile on my face. I don't know why but I just could not stop laughing at that little bird staring at the cat wondering what the hell it was doing up in it's territory, lol.

I LOVE the stamps on this card and Ashley told me that she's a blogger too and has been blogging since 2004! Though she doesn't blog too often now. She said that she hopes I like the funny card and I did indeed :)

And One More From a Friend

And one more, this one from my dear Pat who lives in Florida. Pat was one of the first friends I met when I started blogging and we soon learned that we had so much in common that she began calling me her adopted son, and she became "mom 2" to me :p, now she's just "mama" :) I sent her a card and she sent one back saying that she hopes we meet one day and I so hope the same!!! And wishing me luck on finding a house and making sure I have her guest house in the backyard ;) Thank you mama!

Two From a Friend

These two cards both come from my dear friend Kelly in Canada and I absolutely adore them both!!! The one on the left is a valentine card from her and has Kewpie nailing a valentine letter on the door :) It reads "Please tack this notice on your door so everyone can see I've picked you out from all the world my valentine to be." So cute and so sweet. Put a smile on my face :) And the second one she sent me I absolutely LOVE! I have no clue what it is but it suits my taste in postcards perfectly...which is the bizarre. The only hint I have as to what it is, is in the top left corner of the back where it says "Zander Institue, New York City 1908"....hmmmm...A woman in a cage in an institute...may have to do some research. Thanks Kelly you made my day!!

Russia!

This is the last of the postcrossing cards for the day. This one comes from Russia. I love seeing all of these ancient ruins because it's nothing I'd ever get to see here in the US. I so hope to one day be able to see something like this in person. According to the card, this dates back to the year 1289! Wow! I love all of these gorgeous stamps too, but I can't get them off the card...so they'll get filed away with the card.

From China

Here's a BEAUTIFUL card from China!! It's a picture of a landscape called Keyan according to the sender and I'd very much like to take her up on her offer and go to China some day. It's a place that I've always wanted to see. I absolutely loved the stamps too :) I really need to catch up with my stamps :/ I save the stamps from all of my postcards as long as I can get them off and then mod podge them into a journal. I have so many to put in!

First Time Postcard From The Ukraine

I'm SO behind in posting all of the cards I've received both from postcrossing and from friends, so I'm just going to count the ones I haven't posted as "filed" and pick up from today because today was a good mail day!! This little card is so adorable!!! A pig on a motorcycle :p It came from the Ukraine and it was the sender's first ever postcrossing card :) Love it!

Postcard From Poland

Another beautiful card with more super cool stamps :) This one is from Kasia in Poland...isn't that a beautiful name by the way? Kasia sends this postcard from the Tatra Mountains where she goes every year. I'd so love to see some beautiful mountains like this. One of these days. She also included a beautiful Jim Morrison quote that'll go in my quote book "The most important kind of freedom is to be who you really are." Kasia's a sweetie.

Postcard From Belarus

I got this awesome card from Catherine in Belarus! Belarus!! How cool is that? I've now sent and received cards to Belarus since joining Postcrossing. The longer I'm a member of Postcrossing the more I'm loving it. It's like getting to travel from your living room. Catherine loves extreme sports and is a social media manager. Cool huh? The picture is of their National Library and it's SUCH a cool building! I love awesome architecture. And the stamp is super cool too.

Postcards From Japan

I've been lucky enough to start exchanging direct swaps with a super sweet woman from Japan named Tohko! This is what I'm really loving about Postcrossing. Not only am I getting to meet people from all over the world, but I'm getting to actually know people too! And getting to learn more about countries that I've always wanted to go to! Like Japan! I've had a long term obsession with Japan and me and Tohko have been exchanging emails now and I look forward to all of our emails :) The first card she sent me was a post of Mt. Fuji!

Oh this card just blew me away!! She wrote about seeing Mt. Fuji and how much it blows her away every time she sees it and I can only imagine how amazing that must be. And I LOVE the stamp!!! If that weren't enough, today I got ANOTHER card from her!!!! Wait until you see how awesome this little card is :D

It's Tokyo tower!! With a cute little stamp on the card and even more amazing stamps :D I'm so excited about all of this awesome Japanese goodness :D And even more excited that I've made an awesome new Japanese friend :) Now I just need to figure out how to get these stamps off...does anyone have any good tips on removing stamps?

Card From France

So this one TECHNICALLY isn't a postcard, but I'm about ready to call it the coolest thing I'll EVER receive from Postcrossing :D It comes from Dorine in Brittany and it's her first ever Postcrossing card :D I feel so lucky. In addition to that, this card is full of awesomeness. First of all, I loved the stamps right away. I have the same Miles Davis stamps in the US edition and they come with Edith Piaf stamps too which I thought was cool seeing as Miles Davis is from here in New Orleans and Edith Piam is from France :)

Then there's the card. We share the same music tastes down to some of the same favorite songs!! One of her favorite songs is The Middle East's "Blood" which is pretty obscure and is one of my favs too. She gave me some recommendations for some great French songs which I'll look up as well :) THEN she put the postcard ID inside of that neat little pink box in the corner AND included a little silver key for me because she saw my postcard box here on the blog with the keys on it!! Isn't that sweet?? AND the piece of pink paper underneath rolls out to give the link of a youtube video which she thinks I'll like that I haven't watched yet. Off to see that soon. SUCH an awesome card :D

Postcard From Tasmania

Woohoo! Tasmania! Never expected a card from there and I love this card too :D I'm glad people are actually reading my postcrossing profile and sending me the kinds of things I like. This one came with some neat trivia about Tasmania. Their hottest month is february and they have the cleanest air in the world!! And that stamp is super cool :)

Another From Germany!

I LOVE this card :) The sender took the picture herself. These are exactly the kind of cards I love. Stuff I would have never known before and it's not your typical touristy picture. This is a picture of German Black Forest Clocks that the sender took a picture of in a local souvenir shop :) Wonderful, eh?

Postcard From New Mexico!

This postcard might look like it photoed a little funny but that's because it's a 3D card!! Love it :) It came from the sweetest lady in New Mexico who reads a lot of non-fiction, plays piano and will be 93 soon!! I hope at 93 I'm still reading lots, playing piano (which I don't know how to do currently), and I certainly hope I'm still sending postcards around the world :) Wonderful card to come home to!!

Postcard from Germany

This postcard comes from Alex who lives in a small town in Germany a wee bit away from Munich. I'm learning to really love Postcrossing! Anyone who knows me knows I love gardening, reading and music. Well this postcard has a beautiful view of a farm and Alex has a farm where he grows potatoes! How cool is that? He also said in his card that he loves to read and listen to music and loves photography :) Another really cool stamp included with this one too!

Postcard From Malaysia

I got this incredibly cool postcard from Malaysia today! It shows a picture of a bunch of skulls and there's a reason for that! The person who sent me the card is from a city in Malaysia called Sabah that was known for a tribe of headhunters and his great grandfather had a house full of skulls! How cool is that? Ok...maybe only I would think that's cool :p Loved the beautiful stamp on this one too :)

My First Card!

Yay :D I got my first card from Postcrossing finally and I absolutely love it :D It's just perfect. It came from Michelle in Pennsylvania, a fellow blogger. The postcard is just adorable and it made me think of Gray. I don't know if you read this blog, Debi, but if you do, you'll know it's because of the adorable pandas :p I love that she put the weather and the fact that it was snowing on there. I had a request from a girl in China that I put the weather on my card and didn't get why, but I see now that it's kind of neat to get that information :) Think I may do that with future cards! Can't wait to see what comes next in the mail!
